Student Privacy in the Age of AI, Immigration, and Integrated Data: A Preview of AACRAO's Essential New FERPA Publication

This webinar will provide a preview of AACRAO's new FERPA publication to be published in 2026. The publication will highlight key FERPA guidance documents and policy interpretations from the U.S. Department of Education regarding the evolving definition of education records, the exemptions to the definition of education records, complex data sharing, the use of technology and online services, and data governance. The new publication will also address such topics as FERPA and disclosures to immigration officials, FERPA and the Health Insurance and Accountability Act (HIPAA), artificial intelligence (AI) and student privacy, and FERPA and Prison Education Programs (PEPs).
